Persistent atrial fibrillation

Persistent atrial fibrillation is a type of atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm. Persistent means that episodes last more than 7 days.

If an episode lasts for more than 12 months, it is called long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation.
